Books, books, books…
Up until now, Nikki and I have posted just book reviews. But- I am not satisfied!!!!! If you love books (which I surely hope you do if you’re reading this blog), then surely you’ve been in that place- you know, the one where you are in the middle of a book and you are freaking out or crying or screaming or jumping up and down or… Well, you get the idea. Book reviews do not cut it. No way. Why, you may ask? Well, when you are in the middle of a book and having a MAJOR reaction, there’s no time like the present! Okay, that made no sense. My point is, after you’ve already read the book and it’s time to review, obviously you still remember that part that you were freaking out about, but, well, it’s not happening now. Wow. I really am rambling. I just wrote a really long paragraph to explain very little. Oh well. I don’t believe in backspacing… (Note from Nikki- Amy pulled a Nikki! 😉
What I (Amy) am currently reading:
Specials by Scott Westerfeld
Yeah, the cover looks kind of creepy… But hey, don’t judge a book by it’s cover, right? As the picture suggests, this is the third book in a series. The first is Uglies and the second is Pretties. (Note from Nikki: I love the cover, but I also love sci-fi wayyy more than Amy does. She prefers cupcakes to cyborgs. 🙂
Sorry for the bad pics. They were my only options. Also, all the links are to the Goodreads pages. Anyway, the first two books were super good! 😉 Basically, everyone is ugly (normal) until they’re sixteen, and then they have an operation to turn pretty. So, if you haven’t already guessed, in the first book Tally (the main character) is an Ugly, the second a Pretty, and the third a Special. More specifically, a Cutter. (They cut themselves to stay “icy”.) Okay, here comes the part where I freak out. Out loud. With spoilers. Please continue on to next part of this post if you: A. Haven’t read the books. or B. Don’t want to witness this massive book-cause spaz attack.
Wait, what!!!!!?????!!!!! She kissed Zane but what about David???!!!??? (Note from Nikki- David is an idiot. I despise him) If she had a chance at loving Zane why can’t she have a chance at loving David?!? Why is Zane so shaky!?! Why does Shay always have to find a way to be mad at Tally!?! Why does Tally always feel like she’s not as good as Shay!?! Why is that one doctor – the normal Special – so creepy!?! Why can’t the doctor just leave Tally alone!?! What is Tally going to do?!? Who does Tally end up with?!? Who was the girl David hoverboarded with!?! Is he really that shallow that she’s just his latest girlfriend?!? Why do I keep using exclamation points and question marks at the same time?!? Why am I not reading this book right this second?!? What is wrong with Shay!?! Why did all the Rusties die out!?! When am I ever going to go back to normal typing with no italics or exclamation points and question marks on the end of the same sentence?!? Why am I still rambling!?!
Okay, enough of that; I’m getting tired of typing so much punctuation. In case you weren’t sure, I don’t want answers! I was asking questions that I want answered, but I don’t want the book to end, so I don’t want to read it right now, so that’s a bit of a problem. Actually, some of those – I’m guessing – never get answered. Such as, why did all the rusties die out? Yes, I realize there was a plague-type thingie or whatever it’s called and all the gas was poisoned, but how did the disease develop? How could that kill people? And why were the people stupid enough to try to drive away in their cars? I think that could make an interesting side story/novelette/novella/whatchamacallit if it was told from the point of view of someone who survived, particularly a teenager, as this would be easier to appeal to the target audience.
If you’ve read it, what are your thoughts on this book/series? Why? Tell me if the ending’s good! (Remember, no spoilers!)
AND NOW! THE AMAZING, AWESOME, TALENTED… NIKKI! (I would make a great game show host. It doesn’t look that hard anyway.)
Oh, Amy dearest. Those are only a few wonderful adjectives describing me; you can do better. Just kidding, but I wonder what you would come up with if you really racked your brain. For instance, these words are usually used to describe me: perfect, radiant, ravishing, beautiful beyond imagination, smarter than Albert Einstein, a Greek Goddess in very fashionable clothing, but you probably already know that already. Just kidding, but Amy is an intelligent lady, so I’m sure she could do better. 🙂 Anyway…
I am currently reading City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. (By the way, that blue thingy is a link to Goodreads. Isn’t Amy so cool?)
I don’t have that very many questions about my book, just a lot of feelings. The only thing is, I want to know what happens next. And, I could be finding out right now, but instead, I’m taking the time to write this post for you. You’re welcome.
I’m not sure how I’m feeling about Jace right now… He’s a cocky, arrogant pain in the rear end, but he also really cares about Clary and Alec. And now he’s gone!!!!!! I definitely know how I feel about Hodge. He’s a big, fat, lying, little *insert inappropriate word of choice*. I cannot believe he would just hand over Jace like that! He’s such a coward. I mean, was he truly that miserable?! He had a roof over his head, a beautiful greenhouse, a library full of knowledge. And, he had three pupils who loved him. And, sold one of those said pupils out to an crazy power-hungry monster. If you haven’t noticed, I hate Hodge. I love Clary, and I really hope she finds her mother, and her Jace!!!! I think I really like Jace now. Sorry mine isn’t as long as Amy’s, but I don’t have as many questions. And, I can’t stand to be away from my book much longer! Bye, guys! P.S. Oh. My. Galligaskins. Amy’s section was longer than mine for a change!
