Elphie is the most adorable little elephant. Do I have your attention now?

Hello everyone, it’s Amy! As you know, I’ve been working my way through my stack of ARCs (my last review was for Diamond Bonds by Jeff Kish).
Quite a while ago, I was approached and asked about reviewing a picture book. It was one of the first requests we had gotten, so I didn’t want to turn them down. However, I’ve never reviewed a picture book (hello, YA blog), so I didn’t really know what I was doing. Eventually, I contacted them again, realizing how long it had been. They had released another book with some of the same characters, so I offered to do a double feature!

Elphie and Dad go on an Epic adventure (Elphie's books Book 1)

Elphie and Dad go on an epic adventure to get very special milk from the store.

This was a cute, short read. There is a spelling mistake, but for the most part, the writing is very legible and easy to read. The pictures relate to the story, and are well-drawn. I loved the theme of the father-child bonding time, but I was a little confused by Elphie’s run-in with a friend at the store.

Bravo and Elphie

Elphie gets a pet, and decides to take Bravo to the playground, where they attempt to conquer the slide.

Bravo and Elphie was both fun and quick to read! I liked the idea of this story even better than the first, with Elphie (along with Bravo) eventually conquering the “impossible” slide. The pictures were adorable, being able to see the slide from Elphie’s perspective (an impossibly high height) and then from the mom’s, showing that the slide is not so tall, and Elphie simply has a great imagination.

Well, how did I do? I was nervous, but I think I figured it out, and was able to convey what I thought about both books well enough. 🙂 I liked both, but Bravo & Elphie was definitely my favorite, and they do not have to be read “in order”. I hope you all enjoyed this review, and be sure to check these out! Toodles!

Have you read these books? What did you think? Do you plan on reading these books? How did I do with the review? Let me know down in the comments! 🙂
